Hiking the Foothills Bench Trail Friday, May 3 was a warm sunny day, and I couldn’t stay indoors, so I thought to spend some time outside photographing this trail in order to introduce it to others. The Hike The Foothills Bench Trail is an underrated 4-mile out-and-back trail on the …
The terrain in this area is not too challenging and we saw several families walking on the trails. Hall Ranch is a beautiful place in an easy-access location for people of varying activities and fitness levels.

This had some stunning views which are worth the challenging hike to see, particularly of Mt. Meeker, Longs Peak, Pagoda Mountain, Chief’s Head Mountain, and Tanima Peak.
Lost Lake is a relatively easy hike of 4.4 miles with roughly 800 feet elevation gain. The trek features beautiful views of the Indian Peaks.
I would definitely recommend this snowshoe trek to anyone who wants to go a bit further than Brainard Lake. You can see one more gorgeous alpine lake and get even more great exercise.
The Wonderland Lake Park is a great place to go for a short hike, and is conveniently located in North Boulder with ample parking. A hike from the parking lot and up around the Wonderland Hill overlooking the lake is only 2.5 miles with an ascent of about 425 ft, proving a good workout. It’s even more of a workout if you do it in the snow!
Our Colorado Mountain Club Snowshoeing Routes of Colorado’s Front Range book recommended Coney Flats Trail for snowshoeing, so we decided to give it a go. This was the first trail we went on with my new Sony telephoto lens, and I was excited to test it out.
The Brainard Lake Snowshoe Trail is an excellent place to visit for beginner snowshoers. The terrain is not difficult, the length of the trail enough for good exercise without getting exhausted, and the alpine scenery is beautiful.
