Old Rag is a classic Shenandoah National Park hike. It can be challenging for beginner hikers, but the effort put in is well worth it. The views are unparalleled in the park and any hike there is bound to be a memorable one.
This 7.7-mile moderate hike is a great option for anyone that wants to do a day hike and be able to see some beautiful mountain scenery, as well as a range of plants and wildlife. If you have time, there are also a couple trails near Elizabeth Furnace that have plaques detailing the history of the area that are interesting to read.
